Comment: This draft does not contain any references, please see WP:CITE and consider adding some citations before resubmitting. Thanks! --Seawolf35 T--C 03:34, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
The Prime Extragalactic Areas for Reionization and Lensing Science (PEARLS) survey is a deep-field imaging program conducted with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). The survey aims to study the earliest galaxies formed after the Big Bang.[1][2]
Discoveries
[edit]PEARLSDG dwarf galaxy
[edit]In January 2024, a research team of astronomers led by Timothy Carleton at Arizona State University (ASU) discovered a small dwarf galaxy, PEARLSDG.[3] Using NASA's James Webb Space Telescope, the team detected a faint glow within a group of galaxies approximately 98 million light-years away.[4][5] Typical dwarf galaxies contain far fewer stars than the Milky Way.[6]
PEARLSDG is notable as a **potentially isolated quiescent dwarf galaxy**, meaning it is not interacting with nearby galaxies and shows little or no ongoing star formation.[7]
