Improvement to Mouse DPI/CPI Definition

[edit]

The sentence “The CPI or DPI as reported by manufacturers depends on how they make the mouse; the higher the CPI, the faster the cursor moves with mouse movement.” is currently uncited and technically unclear.

I propose replacing it with a more precise, neutral wording:

“The CPI or DPI reported by manufacturers reflects how many counts the sensor outputs for each inch of movement; a higher value increases the distance the cursor travels for the same physical motion.” [1]

This improves the accuracy of the explanation and adds an appropriate technical reference. Please comment if there are objections. Umairaalam (talk) 10:50, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
