Gender Section

[edit]

Far less space is devoted to microaggression against women, based on 5 references, than to microaggression against trans people, based on 2 references. Doesn't this raise an issue of WP:UNDUE and WP:BALASP? NightHeron (talk) 08:42, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Probably, though we're using presence of sources in the article (an easy, poor measure) as a proxy for presence of sources in the body of reliable literature (a difficult, good measure). I'd support a trim of the trans and non-binary content (at least a few sentences), but what's really needed is an expansion and improvement of the women content, which should focus more on themes and trends (summary) than individual examples (detail). Sorry for throwing the balance off – I agree that there should be more content in there on women and was planning to expand that next: I've just been looking for more review articles. If someone else wants to add to it first, please do! I think the individual examples that are here are useful to readers, but I also would like to see the section focus more on themes and trends.
On the topic of reference weight, I've mostly used the proxy of google scholar citation count (as well as glancing through a couple referencing articles to see what they used the source for) to determine the weight to give articles in a specific field. I was also comfortable writing proportionately more content based on one review article since it summarized a set of prior work. However, that does mean only two sources are used here, so I understand if people think it would be better to diversify the sources. Hobbitina (talk) 15:38, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
