Description
{{Renameuser}} and {{Rename links}} are templates used to format and structure requests on Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple.
Usage
{{Renameuser}} is preloaded when a user selects the Place your request here link on Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple, and provides a form for them to add their requested username and provide a reason. It is automatically converted to {{Rename links}} when the edit is published. If, for example, your username is "Joe Bloggs" and you wish to change it to "Lorem ipsum" because you don't want to use a real name, the syntax should read like this:
{{safesubst:Renameuser
|CURRENT={{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- The "{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}" will automatically fill in your current username—please do not touch it! -->
|NEW=Lorem ipsum
|REASON=I don't want to use a real name. ~~~~
}}
If your request is submitted malformed, you may remedy it based on this syntax:
=== <span id="Joe Bloggs">Joe Bloggs</span> → Lorem ipsum ===
{{rename links| 1=Joe Bloggs | 2=Lorem ipsum }}
* Datestamp: ~~~~~
* Reason: I don't want to use a real name. ~~~~
