Blancco Technology Group (commonly Blancco) is a global provider of data erasure and mobile device diagnostics software. Its products are used by enterprises, governments, IT asset disposition (ITAD) vendors, recyclers, and mobile industry stakeholders to erase data, manage end-of-life IT assets, and support reuse of devices. History
[edit]The company originated in Joensuu, Finland, in 1997, when Janne Tervo and Kim Väisänen founded Carelian Innovation Ltd. The first product, Blancco Data Cleaner, was released in 1999, and the company subsequently adopted the Blancco name.[3]
In June 2022, Blancco acquired WipeDrive, formerly known as White Canyon Software Inc., a U.S.-based provider of data erasure software solutions. WipeDrive's employees joined the Blancco team as part of the deal.[4]
In December 2023, Francisco Partners completed the acquisition of Blancco Technology Group in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately £175 million. Following the acquisition, the company was delisted from the London Stock Exchange.[5]
In May 2025, Blancco acquired Key Deploy from Blair Technology Group. Key Deploy is a software technology that facilitates Windows asset reimaging after data sanitization.[6]
