Andalus Bank (مصرف الأندلس) is a Libyan Islamic commercial bank headquartered in Tripoli. It was established in 2017, received its license from the Central Bank of Libya in 2020, and began operations the same year. As part of Libya’s private banking sector, Andalus Bank provides Sharia-compliant retail and corporate banking services and has been noted for its role in digital banking and modern branch design.[1]

History

Andalus Bank held its IPO in May 2017. In March 2020, it received its license from the Central Bank of Libya, authorizing a paid-up capital of 100 million LYD and total capital of 250 million LYD.[2]

Headquarters and branches

The bank’s head office is located in Tripoli Tower 2 (floors 17–18) on Al-Kurnish Road, with general administration offices in Palestine Square (Al-Sareem Street), Tripoli.[3][4]

The bank offers Sharia-compliant retail and corporate banking products, including e-banking, digital banking, letters of credit, guarantees, money transfers, and customer information resources.[5]

Technology

Andalus Bank utilizes Oracle’s FLEXCUBE core banking system and Oracle Banking Digital Experience to support its digital operations.[6]

For international banking transactions, Andalus Bank operates under the SWIFT/BIC code ANLSLYLTXXX.[7]

As a private-sector bank, Andalus is considered part of Libya’s evolving commercial banking landscape, often described as more agile and customer-focused than state-owned banks.[1]
