Election template
[edit]So, Iâm going to withdraw my TFD for now since this is very much a WIP. While I greatly appreciate you linking to the discussions about the new template, will confess I am not willing to read the multiple pages of discussion. There is just too much going on there⌠Perhaps you can TLDR it for? Is this designed to function as a second template or is designed to completely replace {{Infobox election}}? If it is a replacement, then once you are done with your work, the code at {{Infobox election}} should be replaced with your new code. To be clear, I have absolutely zero objection to redoing the template in the name of a better use experience and applaud your efforts in this!
However, IF it is a replacement, then I think it should be coded in the sandbox. If this is going to be a lengthy process and you want to leave that sandbox for other uses, then I would encourage you to make a Template:Infobox election/new version.
Finally, Iâm pretty experienced with Template editing so if I can be of any assistance along the way, feel free to {{ping|Zackmann08}} me.

- Hi @Zackmann08 and thanks for the response
- The template is kind of designed as a bridge between the horizontal/vertical mix of {{Infobox election}} and the entirely vertical table style of {{Infobox legislative election}}.
- The TLDR of the linked discussions is that people generally agreed that a new style of infobox was warranted, preferably based on the types seen at French and Spanish wikipedias, which have seperate sections for each party (as with TIE) but which are not ordered to go across then down and go only down (as with TILE). As such, this could technically/theoretically replace TIE though I doubt it would, so most likely it would remain as a second template. DimensionalFusion (talk ¡ she/her) 22:59, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
- FWIW I would STRONGLY advise against having 2 templates unless there is a sufficient distinction between the titles that clearly indicates how they should be used. In other words, avoid
{{Template Name}}and{{Template Name Alternate}}or{{Template Name 2}}. IF this is not going to replace {{Infobox election}} then I would make sure it has truly unique name. - Also FWIW, I have no strong opinion about whether or not the infobox should be redesigned. It seems to me to be a case of if it ain't broke... But then you do seem to indicate that there is sufficient argument that it IS broken....
- Final point and bear with me here. This is relevant. I'm working on a conversion of {{Infobox Australian place}} to use {{Infobox settlement}}. When I first set out, I argued for removing a bunch of stuff that I didn't think belonged in the infobox and got MAJOR pushback. What we are now looking at is keeping ALL information, just displaying it differently. Why the hell am I telling you this? I would strongly encourage you to not only keep all parameters in Infobox election in your redesign, but to keep the parameter names this same. This way whether it becomes a replacement, or its own standalone version, the process of switching from one to the other will be easy and seemless. Additionally (and again this is from experience) you will get far less pushback from people who argue that it ain't broke, if all you are doing is changing how information is displayed, not adding or removing any information.
- Hope that helps and again ping me if I can help! Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:23, 8 October 2025 (UTC)

Unsourced redlinks
[edit]Why are you adding unsourced redlinks, such as the one you added to Mole Valley District Council? --Magnolia677 (talk) 20:54, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Magnolia677 Itâs fairly standard that infoboxes for disbanded authorities display the first and last elections, so I am adding those for authorities which are going to be disbanded in addition to removing the ânext electionâ, which is now no longer going to happen DimensionalFusion (talk ¡ she/her) 20:56, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- You added a link to "7 June 1973". What was your source to support this? Magnolia677 (talk) 21:24, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- 1973 United Kingdom local elections give that day for those local authorities DimensionalFusion (talk ¡ she/her) 21:25, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- That article does not say this was the "first election". Magnolia677 (talk) 21:31, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Magnolia677 The 1973 election was the first election for those authorities because local government was completely reformed by the Local Government Act 1972, which dissolved the former Rural Districts and Urban Districts. DimensionalFusion (talk ¡ she/her) 21:35, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

Regarding the UK election polling chart
[edit]Hey, just wanted to ask what poll it is you added to the UK chart on the 1st of Novemeber as I can't seem to work out what it might have been from the opinion polling for the Next UK election article. cheers Bejakyo (talk) 11:12, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Bejakyo, that was one of the polls of the 27 October DimensionalFusion (talk ¡ she/her) 12:29, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
Tim Davie resignation
[edit]Hi DimensionalFusion
I note you were quick to say that Davie had left the position as DG of the BBC, despite the fact he has announced he will in the future, after a successor has been found in effect. While I'm not worried about the initial error, I am concerned that you made a second edit based on this error here after I had reverted your first edit saying Press release said he is "to step down", not that he has
. Please in future try to ensure you don't miss info given by other editors in the page history. Thank you --TedEdwards 18:26, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
