Template edit request flowchart

[edit]

After responding to some template edit requests, and, despite extra care, making a mistake in one of them, I decided to make myself a flowchart to know what to be mindful of from now on. With some inspiration from Wikipedia:New pages patrol's flowcharts, I wonder if other template editors might be interested in having it on this page!

Something like this seems useful. In its current form, it doesn't seem easily editable to fix things like minor typos, let alone adjusting the workflow. At first glance, your workflow pretty much matches mine, although I am usually not as generous with inadequate edit requests. I ask the proposer to do most of the work in the flowchart. Is there a set of templates that can create flowcharts like this? I don't recall seeing one. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:52, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've made it in Inkscape, as the project started as a personal workflow, although I would be happy if anyone knew how to rewrite it in wikicode. To account for the differences of latitude that template editors might give to incomplete or inadequate edit requests, it could be possible to have optional paths ("fix it or decline it"), although I don't want to add too much complexity to the flowchart.
