National Football League team season
The 2025 season is the Seattle Seahawks ' 50th in the National Football League (NFL), their 16th under the leadership of general manager John Schneider and their second under head coach Mike Macdonald . They attempt to improve on their 10–7 record from last season, make the playoffs after a two–year absence, and win the NFC West title for the first time since 2020 . The team's 8–3 start is their best since they also started 8–3 in 2020 .
In the offseason, longtime players Tyler Lockett , Geno Smith , and DK Metcalf left the team; Lockett was released and later joined the Titans , whereas Smith joined the Raiders and Metcalf joined the Steelers .[ 1] Major free agent signings included quarterback Sam Darnold , wide receiver Cooper Kupp , and linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence . The team also re-signed starting linebacker Ernest Jones IV to a three-year deal.
On November 4, before the trade deadline, the team acquired All-Pro returner and wide receiver, Rashid Shaheed , from the New Orleans Saints .
During the season, Jaxon Smith-Njigba broke DK Metcalf 's record for the most single-season receiving yards as a Seahawk with 1,313; the previous record, set in 2020 , was 1,303.
After a Week 13 win over the Minnesota Vikings , they clinched their fourth consecutive winning season.
