"Candidatus Altarchaeum" is a monotypic genus of ultra-small archaea. It contains the sole species "Ca. Altarchaeum hamiconexum". It is in the monotypic family "Altarchaeaceae", monotypic order "Altarchaeales" and monotypic phylum "Altarchaeota".[4][5][6][7]
