Kudanil Explorer - Wikipedia Draft Infobox Article Content

Kudanil Explorer is a 50-metre expedition yacht, originally built in 1978 as a safety standby vessel for offshore industries and comprehensively refitted between 2016 and 2018 to serve as a luxury adventure charter vessel operating in Indonesia.[1]

Design and Features

[edit]

The vessel retains its rugged, seaworthy design while offering modern luxury interiors and amenities. Each of its eight guest cabins includes a private balcony, a rare feature for yachts in Indonesian waters.[2]

It offers approximately 1,000 m² (11,000 ft²) of guest space across four decks, including a Jacuzzi, spa, library lounge, indoor cinema, and multiple dining and lounging areas.[3]

The yacht carries a range of watercraft and recreational gear, including tenders, jet-skis, stand-up paddleboards, transparent kayaks, surfboards, wakeboards, diving gear with Nitrox compressors, and an inflatable “magic carpet” pool.[4]

Capacity and Crew

[edit]

Kudanil Explorer accommodates up to 16 adults across eight equal-sized cabins, each with a king or twin beds and en-suite bathrooms.[5] It is typically crewed by 21 to 22 members.[6]

Charter Operations

[edit]

The vessel is available for private charters in Indonesian destinations such as Bali, Komodo, Raja Ampat, the Spice Islands, and West Papua.[7]

Itineraries are highly customizable and can include diving, surfing, snorkeling, land excursions, cultural visits, and wildlife viewing.[8]

In September 2025, the yacht is scheduled to operate a “Jungle to Sea” expedition from Capella Ubud to Komodo National Park with naturalist Dr. Lawrence Blair.[9]

Media Coverage and Recognition

[edit]

Kudanil Explorer has been featured in multiple international publications. In May 2025, Forbes described it as “the ultimate Indonesian adventure yacht,” highlighting its combination of rugged capability and comfort.[10]

It has also been covered by OnboardOnline (2024), Pelorus Yachting, Financial Times (2025), Country Life Magazine (2024), Yachtstyle (2022–23), Boat International (2022), Asia Pacific Boating (2020 & 2022), Traveller Magazine (2019), Le Figaro (2019), and Robb Report (2018).[11]
