Draft:Neha Ahlawat rape murder case

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Neha Ahlawat rape murder case refers to the July 2010 rape and murder of 21-year-old MBA student Neha Ahlawat in Sector 38 (West), Chandigarh, India. Her body was found in a semi-naked state near a taxi stand, and the case remained unsolved for 14 years. In May 2024, a taxi driver was arrested, linking him to two other similar murders in the area. In November 2025, a Chandigarh court convicted him and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Case

[edit]

On July 2010, Neha was missing and her semi-naked body was found.[1] [2] Initial post-mortem and forensic examinations couldn’t conclusively confirm rape, but a 2013 report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) confirmed presence of semen on her clothes , indicating sexual assault before murder. Police added rape charges after 3 years.[3]

By 2017, after seven years, the police admitted they were 'clueless' about the murder.[4] In 2020 the police filed the case as untraced.[5]
