Comment: As previously stated in order to address WP:NALBUM, there needs to be significant coverage about the album, not the preceding EPS or singles. In the background section there is a significant amount of original research (i.e. material without any references or sources). The Rock'n'Load article appears to be a press release rather than a review (primary source). The Sputnik reference is just a collection of user reviews not professional reviews. Needs to find better references/reviews before resubmitting. Dan arndt (talk) 01:32, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Fails the requirements of WP:NALBUM, needs significant coverage about the album, not the various singles. Noting Musicbrainz, Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music are not acceptable or reliable secondary sources. Dan arndt (talk) 06:26, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
Comment: I suggest you lose Broadway World, which is an announcement and look very critically at AllmusicBroadly, what is required is a portfolio of references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS please. See WP:42. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this draft to be accepted. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today.Anything that smells like a PR piece, especially using words like 'announce' or 'launch is PR churnalismPassing WP:NALBUM is your aim. 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 22:24, 19 October 2025 (UTC)

One Simple Trick is the debut studio album by English indie rock band Lovejoy. It was released independently through the band's label Anvil Cat Records and Revolution Records and distributed through Warner Records on 3 October 2025. It is the follow-up to the band's third EP, Wake Up & It's Over. Three singles have been released: "With Rob As My Witness", "Pay & Display", and "Common Touch". Although the album hasn't charted by itself, "Pay & Display" charted at number 38 on Billboard's Alternative Airplay Charts.[1]
Background
[edit]The band uploaded a trailer for the debut album to their YouTube channel on 22 May 2025. In June 2025, bassist Ash Kabosu posted a photo to the Lovejoy Reddit page titled "Amendment I", which featured a photo of several groups of letters which, if unscrambled, would spell out the track list to the album. The caption of the post included eleven emojis, which would give a hint to the title of each track. In a Reddit Q&A on 15 June 2025, frontman William Gold hinted that the acronym for their debut album's title would be "OST". The band went on to tour the United Kingdom and United States in 2024 and 2025, where they played selected tracks from the album before they were released.[2] A track titled Wasted Summer was played throughout their shows; however, it was confirmed by bassist Ash Kabosu that it would not be included on the album, and would instead be released as a single after the album's rollout.
On 20 June 2025, they released the album's first single, "With Rob as My Witness". On 18 July 2025, the album was officially announced, and that same day, the band announced the "One Simple Tour", where they would tour the United States and Canada to promote the album. On 22 August 2025, they released the album's second single, "Pay & Display".[3] On 19 September 2025, they released the third single, "Common Touch".[4]
Composition
[edit]During an impromptu Q&A on the Lovejoy Reddit page, Gold stated that most of the lyrics to the album were written in a psychiatric ward in New York City. He also stated that the album's sound was inspired by Brandon Flowers and The Killers, whereas their older music was more inspired by Arctic Monkeys and Los Campesinos!.[5][6] Regarding the album, the band states, "One Simple Trick took four years of overthinking, we are excited to underthink it from now on. It’s an album of reduction and processed meat. About the loss of the tangible and the grasping of a new modern meaning."[7]
Release and promotion
[edit]The album was released under Lovejoy's independent label Anvil Cat, alongside Revolution. An album release show was held at O2 Academy Islington in London on 24 September 2025, where they played the entire album live, alongside other earlier songs. They began the "One Simple Tour" on 18 October 2025 in Boston, which will end on 26 November 2025 in New York. A limited edition white vinyl pressing was released alongside the digital versions.

Upon release, the album received mixed reviews, with some critics saying that it shows Lovejoy "trying their hand at eleven songs that show new signs of compositional improvement, albeit within a proposal that – to date – does not sound too exciting", stating it's still the British indie rock sound that everyone is familiar with, but suitable for current and future generations.[9]
Music videos
