Robert (Roberto, Reuven) Bonfil (Hebrew: ืจื•ื‘ืจื˜ ื‘ื•ื ืคื™ืœ) is an important scholar of pre-modern Jewish history and modern Jewish historiography.[1][2] He is a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.[3] His work focuses on the history of the Jews in Italy and the history of the Jews in the Byzantine Empire.[4] He was born in 1937 in Greece and is a Holocaust survivor.[5][6][7]
