Branches of probability
[edit]I feel that this page would be clearer if it contained a distinction between the branches of probability termed aleatory (of future events that haven't unfolded yet) and epistemic (resulting from insufficient knowledge). While the mathematics is the same, the implications are quite different.TonyP (talk) 09:35, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
Kolmogorov & Cox … & de Finetti
[edit]“There have been at least two successful attempts to formalize probability, namely the Kolmogorov formulation and the Cox formulation.” I think de Finetti is missing here. Kolmogorov comes from maths, Cox from physics, de Finetti from economics. One could mention Savage, too, from statistics. Richard Gill (talk) 10:07, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
