Template:Designation is permanently protected from editing as it is a heavily used or highly visible template. Substantial changes should first be proposed and discussed here on this page. If the proposal is uncontroversial or has been discussed and is supported by consensus, editors may use {{edit template-protected}} to notify an administrator or template editor to make the requested edit. Usually, any contributor may edit the template's documentation to add usage notes or categories.

Any contributor may edit the template's sandbox. Functionality of the template can be checked using test cases.

This template was considered for deletion on 2017 June 6. The result of the discussion was "keep".

Description of suggested change: Hello. Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting#Non-English terms, I believe it would be appropriate to make use of Template:Lang with non-English designation titles, namely the national designations of France, the Netherlands, and Romania, and the provincial designation for Quebec.

Diff: Monument historique → Monument historique; Rijksmonument → Rijksmonument; Monument istoric → Monument istoric; Patrimoine culturel du Québec → Patrimoine culturel du Québec

Apparently there does exist a list of them on Wikipedia, but only half of the entries actually have articles...

Even then though, there is still a significant amount of them that it should probably warrant its' own designation entry Yaaaaargh! (talk) 10:26, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There is no indication on that page that the site is designated in any way. All you had to do was provide one good example. I am marking this request as answered until there is a demonstrated need for this change. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:40, 4 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
