From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Atomic Content Design is a Content Design Pattern that borrows, as a metaphor, the organisation of matter from atoms, elements, and compounds. An atom equates to the smallest piece of meaningful content. A content-atom must be usefully meaningful, reusable, and complete.

Atomic Content, by definition[1], is a standalone block of text without context, and without implied presentational information.

For example, one might imagine that separating a dictionary entry into its term and its definition is a good idea, the dictionary entry could not be meaningful, reusable, or complete without both parts.
