Nomination of 37th parallel north for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article 37th parallel north, to which you have significantly contributed, is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or if it should be deleted.

The discussion will take place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/37th parallel north until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

To customise your preferences for automated AfD notifications for articles to which you've significantly contributed (or to opt-out entirely), please visit the configuration page. Delivered by SDZeroBot (talk) 01:01, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article 113th meridian east has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:RELIABLE and WP:NGEO

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Re: AFD

[edit]

Hey - just wanted to mention that you commented before I finished editing the AFD discussion. No problem at all, but since I edited the template after you left your comment I figured I'd notify you. I don't in any way intend to silently edit after discussion has begun. The text I added to the template is:

Please note that I have added the AFD template to one parallel and one meridian, each picked at random, as adding the templates to every page would be quite onerous. If someone with the appropriate tools to do so could add the correct templates, that would be immensely helpful. Delectopierre (talk) 22:04, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I spotted that - no worries. And apologies if I was too keen to get my response in before you'd finished. Bazonka (talk) 22:07, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not at all! Nothing to apologize for! I just wanted to make sure I'm being fully transparent. Delectopierre (talk) 22:34, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/113th meridian east (1st discussion) and restarted with an explicit and targetted list, with the articles properly tagged, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/43rd parallel south. I shall be looking at opening a separate meridian discussion if I can identify likewise a set of articles to discuss. Uncle G (talk) 13:31, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for sorting this out. I'm finding this entire debate profoundly depressing, but at least it's less messy now. Bazonka (talk) 14:02, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Bazonka I'm sorry this is profoundly depressing. I hope you know this AFD is not at all personal, and not about you, but rather the articles. Can I ask why it's feeling that way, though? Delectopierre (talk) 17:27, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I put a lot of work into creating these articles. They've stood almost unchallenged, providing valuable information, for 16 years, and now you want to throw them all away. Am I supposed to feel delighted? Bazonka (talk) 21:05, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If this deletion is approved then I'm done with Wikipedia. I hope you can feel proud of getting rid of a good editor. Bazonka (talk) 21:12, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I really hope that's not the case, and that you stick around regardless of the outcome. Again, I'm sorry that this is profoundly depressing for you. That's a difficult feeling, and I don't wish it upon anybody.

A tag has been placed on Bani Israel (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is:

  • a disambiguation page with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" which lists only one extant Wikipedia page (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • a disambiguation page that lists zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" whose target is neither a disambiguation page nor page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Sir Joseph (talk) 02:14, 21 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
