September 2024
[edit]
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Primefac (talk) 12:33, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- Please stop copy-pasting from draft space. Thanks. Izno (talk) 17:55, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
Country Championship tables
[edit]Re. Your edit to the 2024 County Championship Division two Standings table. I have now amended this so that Gloucestershire's number of losses is in agreement with the official ECB table, and removed the additional 8 points deducted. For future reference, please see the relevant section on the Talk page, which explains why.
(Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 20:53, 29 September 2024 (UTC))
- There is a little bit confusion in Tie and draw. Goodknowme (talk) 21:31, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
Yes, the ECB table doesn't distinguish between ties and draws, so it is necessary to combine the information from several sources to use the Sports table/CricketCC template. A study of the season's match results also helps. Gloucestershire were a particularly complex case because they were involved in a tie and two matches that were abandoned for different reasons. I suspect that it may be some time before that happens to the same team in one season again!!
(Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 02:33, 30 September 2024 (UTC))
- I said that I am confused that time in Abandoned, ties and draws. Not in ECB or Cricinfo or BBC. Thank you for correcting me. Thank you Goodknowme (talk) 03:03, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
Actually, I'd forgotten that there's an error in the ECB table. Just to make things even more confusing, this should show 7 draws (including the game abandoned without a ball being bowled). I remember now having to go through the individual match results a few weeks ago to work out what was going on.
(Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 03:29, 30 September 2024 (UTC))
I've added some comments to the section on the Talk page I referred you to above, which I hope will make matters clearer. Thanks for drawing (if you will excuse the pun) this matter to my attention, as it will hopefully avoid other people getting confused if they look at the table in future.

I have sent you a note about a page you started
[edit]Hi Goodknowme. Thank you for your work on Bella James. Another editor, MolecularPilot, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
A pass of WP:NCRIC as she played internationally in the ODI. Amazing work, you might want to consider joining women in Red if writing biographies about little-known but important women is something you are interested in! :)
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|MolecularPilot}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Edit summary
[edit]
Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to 2024–25 Pakistan Tri-Nation Series did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.
The edit summary field looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account, you can give yourself a reminder by setting Preferences → Editing →
Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary), and then click the "Save" button.

Scott Van Breda
[edit]Hello. I have altered the infobox for Scott Van Breda. He is not a wicket-keeper. ESPNCricinfo have that wrong. He's an all-rounder. Bowled three overs on Jersey debut. I've never seen him keep wicket and I've watched him play many matches for Farmers Cricket Club. Best wishes. Shrug02 (talk) 16:18, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Spotemgottem. I noticed that you recently removed content from Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Cricket in September
[edit]Hi. Can you run me through the logic of having some September cricket at Template:International cricket in 2025–26 and other September cricket at Template:International cricket in 2025? I'm confused! I *thought* that traditionally September was considered a northern hemisphere season month, so would be included in 2025. I appreciate that it's tricky these days with seasons flowing more, and I could see how a competition could begin in September and carry on in to October certainly. But I was expecting to find West Indian cricket team against Nepal in the UAE in 2025–26 in 2025. Has this sort of thing been discussed somewhere? I wouldn't have seen the discussion, so thought you might know Blue Square Thing (talk) 18:14, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
- The series will happen in second half of (Late) September and the host country is in Asia. In Asia late September is considered as next cricket season. That's why the series in 2025–26 season. In Europe September is considered as sole one year season (2025). You can check the some series in 2024–25 Season. Goodknowme (talk) 18:35, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
