BMT Brighton Line

[edit]

Hey Lenny Marks. I see you are interested in NYC Subway, in South Brooklyn, that's where I am from. I know these places. I live here for 29 years, and I've made a lot of photos of it. Also I prepare Russian version, since my native language is Russian. I see you know Hebrew. Unfortunately I don't. So if you can, can you put my (and not my) photos and videos of Brighton Line into Hebrew wiki? Thanks.GK tramrunner (talk) 00:38, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GK tramrunner, thank you for reaching out to me. As far as I can tell, there is no Hebrew Wikipedia page that currently exists for the BMT Brighton Line, and it is therefore impossible for me to add anything to it. If you have a specific article in Hebrew Wikipedia that you think can benefit from an image that you took, please let me know and I'd be happy to take a look. (There is an article about the whole B Line, for example)--Lenny Marks (talk) 11:05, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Lenny Marks I guess, you can use my photos, in Hebrew version of Q (New York City Subway service). As well as in similar articles. GK tramrunner (talk) 03:28, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rajputana

[edit]

Why are targeting Rajputs . You are from another country and know nothing about Rajputana . I am living in Rajasthan you fuc**ing moronn trying to teach me about my religion and cast just shut up you idiiiiot HistorianOP (talk) 11:32, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HistorianOP I am not targeting you or anyone, I was simply explaining on your talk page that as per WP:VERIFY, you should cite your edits with a citation template. I have zero problem with your edit, and would be happy for you to make it, other than the fact that you did not cite any source. Your language towards me in this comment, however, is rude and slightly offensive and I do not think it was called for. It is inappropriate to disparage another User on their talk page instead of having a constructive discussion. I am sorry that you feel I was "trying to teach you about your religion," but I certainly don't believe I made any comments about you, or your religion, which I am unaware of. Please try to be civil, and I hope you can make the edit with proper citations.--Lenny Marks (talk) 11:50, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nemours Mansion and Gardens

[edit]

Hello, I would like to kindly ask you to un-revert the clarifying changes I made to the Nemours Mansion and Gardens page. These changes were clarifying names and updating information about the mansion and gardens themselves such as the incorrectly listed size of the ground and the incorrect number of floors in the house itself, also the name changes for statues and gardens are taken directly from the Estates maps themselves and are not incorrect. All of these changes are not opinionated at all and are simple clarifications, especially the size and floor number changes. Thank you for your time Matthew C123 (talk) 14:02, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Matthew C123 Hi there! I understand that the edits you have made may be innocuous, however I strongly advise you to consult the Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, or to read the sections How to disclose a COI and COI editing in the conflict of interest policy. I understand that you may be merely trying to add accurate information but you must disclose conflicts of interest on a given article. I would suggest that in the meantime, you request that the edits you was are made by other users, as explained in the guide. As a side point, another issue with the edits was that they did not cite sources in the article, which is always preferable. I know this is a lot of information do please feel free to ask me, or the more expirienced users at WP:Teahouse any questions. Best, --Lenny Marks (talk) 14:26, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, So to clarify in order for it to be changed I have to go to the talk page and request edits and cannot correct any information myself? Also you seem to have forgotten to sign your last talk edit on my page. Thank you for your time. Matthew C123 (talk) 14:11, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you added this while I was replying to your first question. While I am not an expert, I believe that this is the case. I think you will probably find the Plain and simple conflict of interest guide helpful. If you have more questions you can ask me, but there are also forums on Wikipedia for policy questions, such as: WP:Teahouse for new users, and WP:Reference desk.--Lenny Marks (talk) 14:26, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I can't think of a good subject headline soooo...

[edit]

You made a mistake. You accidentally reverted an edit that says that Audra McDonald is German. She was born in West Berlin, which is in Germany and anyone born in Germany is German. 2603:6080:A700:1C39:9938:A072:8D7:C819 (talk) 18:54, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thank you for telling me, but I actually noticed before. If you check the page you'll see that the edit was restored (though I changed the wording slightly). The problem was that the citation for the source which confirmed the edit was at the start of the sentence instead of after the statement, so I didn't notice it. Sorry about the confusion. By the way, I noticed your IP has made quite a few edits; Have you considered making an account to edit from? Thanks, and sorry again, --Lenny Marks (talk) 19:41, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Nader proposed for deletion

[edit]

Lenny, I looked at this article and then did some searching. For starters, I found this.[1] Also, Google Books turned up multiple articles which are mostly bound newspaper articles, not actual books.

I think Mr. Nader is likely notable so I'm removing the PROD tag. I believe deleting an article which is possibly notable should be discussed before deletion. (I don't think that's an official rule - just my opinion).

Feel free to take this article to AfD.

Thanks for helping with article quality and reliability!

--A. B. (talk ‱ contribs ‱ global count) 01:23, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @A. B. Thanks for your efforts. My concern was (and still is) that many of the sources are in essence about the art gallery he runs and therefore do not constitute significant coverage of the man himself. I will take a deeper look myself before deciding whether to bump to article to AfD for further disscussion. Thanks again! -- Lenny Marks (talk) 01:40, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Regarding this addition by you of a fact tag, does the the citation at the end of the paragraph not support that one line? Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 15:09, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Nightscream. From a cursory search, I did not find any support for the statement in that book, however if you find a mention of it feel free to remove the tag. Happy editing! -- Lenny Marks (talk) 15:30, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Lenny Marks: So you have a copy of the book, then, and you looked through the index for mention of Pollard? Was he not in the index? Nightscream (talk) 15:48, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Nightscream I accessed a digital version and conducted a word search for Pollard, which returned no results. It did, however, return for Walker. Lenny Marks (talk) 15:57, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Brother Speed Motorcycle Club

[edit]

Sir, In accordance with the Wikipedia Dispute Resolution page, I would like to discuss with you several innacurate statements you keep posting regarding the Brother Speed Motorcycle Club. I am new to Wikipedia and how to correct falsehoods on it, so please bear with me. Brb232 (talk) 21:45, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. I have started a discussion about the issue here, on the article's talk page. I would suggest that you go there and post what you think the problems are. Lenny Marks (talk) 21:49, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am not opposed to that, however you seem to be reposting stuff and ignoring what others have written on this subject. What would you suggest I do if you base part of your opinion regarding this club (which I happen to be a member of) when your cited reference(s) are full of gross errors, falsehoods, and lies? Furthermore, you don't reference things that are true such as charitable works, community efforts, etc. Brb232 (talk) 21:53, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So, for starters, I did not add that information to the article. I simply undid your removal it. That is because Wikipedia has policies about removing content, namely: information that cites what Wikipedia considers a reliable source can't be removed even if you personally think or know it to be false. You have to provide your own sourced information to contradict it. Let's continue this conversation at the discussion page though, so other editors can get involved and benefit Talk:Brother_Speed_Motorcycle_Club#"Criminal"_status_and_COI_edits Lenny Marks (talk) 22:07, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your time. No reason to get aggressive. I'm simply trying to have the statements on Wikipedia be as accurate as possible without false claims and outright lies. I will move to the other page you've referenced and hope we can make some progress there. Regards! Brb232 (talk) 22:16, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the post on my users page. I am still trying to figure this out an I appreciate your help. I have mentioned that a reference to a link that doesn't exist be removed from the page in question. I have added that to the page's discussion page as you requested. Did I do that correctly? Brb232 (talk) 22:25, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. I hope I apologize if I was coming off as agressive, that was not my intention. I will try to examine the references. -- Lenny Marks (talk) 23:03, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hall Airport merger into Kaufman, Texas

[edit]

Howdy! I notice you recently dePROD'd the Hall Airport article and merged it with Kaufman, Texas. I'm certain you did so in good faith, but you overlooked something important: the airport is closed. It no longer shows up in the FAA airport search, and according to the list of airports in Texas, it closed circa 2010, although the editor did not cite the source of this information. Since the airport didn't clearly meet WP:GNG or WP:NBUILD, I don't think it warrants a mention on the Kaufman, Texas, page, which is the reason I didn't AfD/merge it. Carguychris (talk) 13:37, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for letting me know! I did nodice that on the List of airports in Texas page it said "(closed?)" with a question mark, but the link for the Texas DOT database still worked and it seems to come up on Google Maps (not that that is authoritative), so I assumed it was still open and that that was a mistake. Are you saying that it's confirmed that it is closed? -- Lenny Marks (talk) 13:46, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
TxDOT does not update their information very frequently. The FAA does. The airport not only doesn't show up in the airport search, it no longer shows up on the local VFR sectional chart. (The 2010 date is probably based on when it vanished from the sectional chart.) If it no longer appears in FAA documents, it's safe to conclude that it's not open to the public. Carguychris (talk) 21:39, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
FYI I went ahead and RFD'd the redirect. Discussion here. Carguychris (talk) 21:59, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lenny, this is Ben Hur

[edit]

Hi Lenny, I decided to open an wiki account because I’m Ben Hur the voice actor who voiced Kimo from Super Duper Sumos. It’s not Ben Hurston and yes I can see that it could be considered a prank but that is my real name. And anyways it’s verified on the show credits and IMDb. So if you can change it to Ben Hur that would be awesome. Thanks Lenny. Benhuractor (talk) 20:33, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'll take a look! Thanks for reaching out as it's probably best that you don't change it yourself given the conflict of interest. If I find a source to support the change, I'll put it in. -- Lenny Marks (talk) 20:38, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Vaishno Devi article

[edit]

Hi recently my edits were removed by you. I want to bring to your notice that Vaishno Devi article is totally vandalized by the fake claims of Vaishnavism sect who wanted to convert this temple. The reference they are giving are not found the same as they claiming in scriptures. I checked in scriptures then only removed. If you still want that content to remain added then I will put a note on the article that the references here are not reliable and this article is a total vandalism. In coming days I will be adding more information to support my claims with reliable sources. Thank you for your time. 154.20.18.13 (talk) 17:54, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I personally do not know enough about the topic to know what is accurate and what isn't, but I'm only pointing out that some of the content you removed had a source attached to it. If you beleive that the source that was cited does not support the content you removed, I would recommend starting a discussion on the article's tak page about removing it. I can also recommend to you Help:Referencing for beginners which will explain how to cite your sources so that your content isn't removed! If you have any questions about anything you can reach out at wp:Teahouse and they will help explain it. Happy editing! :) -- Lenny Marks (talk) 18:00, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
thanks
I just wanna request you to please put protection on Vaishno Devi page so that only confirmed users can edit it because the page is being regularly disrupted by people who are giving unreliable and low quality website sources. No information on the page actually is proper. So it is good to put protection on the page. I'll really appreciate it. I just now rolled backed edits that were possibly vandalism to the article. I have raised this issue many times on article's talk page but there's no one to look after it. 2001:569:7FBA:7600:65E9:8D18:BDC:5B2F (talk) 06:30, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Great thanks! Given that it is a wp:BLP, there is heightened scrutiny for controversial additions, but continuously reverting the same editor (who is providing sources) may be seen as edit warring. It would be beneficial to reach out on the editor's talk page to let them know about the discussion. Thanks again -- Lenny Marks (talk) 18:08, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i think it might have been two different editors? unless it was the same person with different IPs. regardless, that page might be worth a temporary protection. kind of a case of the low-quality media running wild with re-reporting a single, very problematic source in the absence of any real reliable outlets doing any reporting. i guess that's just the state of the media now, unfortunately! 173.175.200.238 (talk) 18:15, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alexander Yakhontov

[edit]

I noticed that you tagged Alexander Yakhontov with {{prod blp}} for proposed deletion. I have removed the tag from the article because it does not meet the criteria specified. The placement requirements are (a) that subject is living, and (b) that the article contains no sources in any form (as references, external links, etc., reliable or otherwise) supporting any statements made about the person in the biography. Please fully read Wikipedia:Proposed deletion of biographies of living people before tagging articles for proposed deletion. In this case, the subject was dead. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 23:08, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I only just realized. My mistake. -- Lenny Marks (talk) 23:10, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

BLPPROD

[edit]

Hi Lenny. I keep an eye on the unreferenced BLP category, and noticed that you had tagged three sportspeople articles for deletion per WP:BLPPROD:

Sadly (because I do not think the articles are stellar!) you can't use BLPPROD for them, because all the articles contain external links that support statements made in the article. WP:BLPPROD says (my underlining): To be eligible for a BLPPROD tag, the entry must be a biography of a living person and contain no sources in any form (as references, external links, etc., reliable or otherwise) supporting any statements made about the person in the biography.

Can I leave you to revert those proposals? In this case, assuming you still consider them suitable for deletion, you could either use regular WP:PROD or take them to WP:AfD. Certainly in the state they're in they don't meet WP:SPORTCRIT. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 10:46, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, thank you :) I didn't notice the external links so that's my bad. -- Lenny Marks (talk) 15:17, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lenny Marks,

I did intend to make those changes to Alice H. Parker's page for a school assignment, but I'm new to editing on wikipedia so I apologize for any confusion I caused. It would be greatly appreciated if my changes could be reconsidered and potentially published. MaxU.42 (talk) 12:16, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The reason the edit appeared as a test was that you replaced a reference with a string of random characters. However, it also appears that you removed a lot of information with citations to reliable sources. In general, information with citations to a reliable source, and references themselves, should not be removed without a good reason. If you would like to add in additional information you should feel free to do that, and I would recommend reviewing the citation help page which should explain how to cite a source using a citation template. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:

  • You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
  • Access must not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).

It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:

  • When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
  • Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
  • Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or more IP addresses (using the CIDR notation format).

Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences. Happy editing! —Femke 🐩 (talk) 20:59, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You've got mail

[edit]
Hello, Lenny Marks. Please check your email; you've got mail!
It may take a few minutes from the time the email is sent for it to show up in your inbox. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{You've got mail}} or {{ygm}} template. Joyous! Noise! 00:01, 20 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thanks. The main thing was I wanted to make sure some admins were aware of it. Appreciate you! -- Lenny Marks (talk) 00:08, 20 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Plot sections and your "unreferenced section"

[edit]

I see you add many unreferenced sections to articles under plot. The one I noticed first was our Dispatch (video game) page. If I'm not mistaken, this is unnecessary to do. The citation for plots are their original works according to Wikipedia:How to write a plot summary#Citations, thus do not need outside sources. Kaii-El (talk) 18:27, 23 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the MOS regarding plots and sources. Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Writing_about_fiction#Primary Kaii-El (talk) 19:04, 23 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct, I knew that primary could be used for unambiguous facts but I didn't know that it could be used for the entire plot summary. Thanks for letting me know! Shouldn't the section still reference the specific spot in the primary source the information came from though so that it can be verified? -- Lenny Marks (talk) 18:38, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I believe just having it under plot marks where it’s from and makes it verifiable by the reader. An example of having / wanting to source something could be Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, where they want to put both very different endings on the wiki, so they provide a source for the choices. That’s why on Dispatch and other Telltale-ish games, we try to keep it pretty ambiguous and have a footnote for player choices making small differences that may not be in the article. BLP Name Concern - Request for Editor Review

[edit]

Hello, I am requesting assistance because I have a conflict of interest — I represent the subject professionally and therefore cannot edit the article directly.

Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yo_Gotti

The article currently lists the full name “Mario Sentell Giden Mims.” My client has stated that this full version of the name is not his current legal form and may reflect outdated information or combined past names.

If removal of the full name is not possible under policy, my client asks whether it would be appropriate for the article to list him as “Mario Mims,” which is the version he actively uses and publicly identifies with.

I would appreciate it if uninvolved editors could review: ‱ whether the currently listed full name is fully accurate and reliably sourced, and ‱ whether using “Mario Mims” in the infobox or lead would be consistent with reliable sourcing and BLP guidelines.

If reliable sources require the full name to remain, I understand and respect that decision. I am simply bringing the concern forward for review under BLP.

Thank you for your time and assistance. Kmmyslvdr18 (talk) 19:36, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look. Thanks for following the process. -- Lenny Marks (talk) 19:43, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your prompt response and for taking the time to review this. I appreciate your attention to ensuring the article remains accurate and consistent with BLP guidelines. Please let me know if any additional information or clarification from our side would be helpful. Thanks! Kmmyslvdr18 (talk) 19:53, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you could provide reliable sources that confirm that the name is no longer accurate it could be changed. But in the absence of sources, I cannot just take your word for it unfortunately. -- Lenny Marks (talk) 19:51, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
At the BMI Songview database for songwriters, Yo Gotti's first hit song, "Men Lie Women Lie", is listed as being written by Mario Mims, Dwayne Carter, Bradford Marquis Ray and Seneca Raynard Cayson. (Carter is Lil Wayne.) In December 2010, a year after his first hit song, Gotti pleaded guilty to starting a riot. News reports listed his name as Mario Mims.[2][3] I can't speak for "Giden" or "Sentell", but the name Mario Mims is solidly sourced.
I see no news reports about changing the name. In any case, the birth name would continue to be listed as the birth name.
The most I can recommend is getting rid of the "Sentell Giden" portion. Both of these names were added without a reference in September 2019, by a troublesome editor who kept getting blocked for disruption. Before that, AllMusic listed Yo Gotti's other name as Mario Mims.[4] After that, AllMusic changed it to Mario Sentell Giden Mims.[5] So it looks like those other names were the result of vandalism, but they migrated out from Wikipedia to poison other sources.
I will remove those two middle names as false. Binksternet (talk) 20:59, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for doing such thorough research :) This is what I love about Wikipedia. -- Lenny Marks (talk) 03:05, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both again for the time and careful attention you’ve given this. And apologies for any confusion on my part.
If it is not possible under policy to remove the full form of the name entirely, would it be possible to restore the article to the version that previously listed the full name as Mario Sentell Giden Mims rather than the current shortened form (Mario Mims)?
I understand and respect the need for reliable sourcing, and I’m not asking for any unsourced information to be added—only whether the prior version (before the recent update) can be reinstated if that is what policy and sourcing support.
I appreciate your patience as I work within COI guidelines.
Thank you again for your time and assistance. Kmmyslvdr18 (talk) 15:05, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you can prove those names by pointing out a source published before September 2019 then you will have some leverage in your request. Binksternet (talk) 16:43, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
