Your submission at Articles for creation: OctoEverywhere (June 30)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by Greenman were:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject. Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Please remove all WP:External links before any resubmission.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Hello, I'm Yoshi24517. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to Home Assistant because they seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Online) 20:12, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey thanks for the note and sorry for the trouble! I was adding homeway becuase it's directly reveleant to Home Assistant and it's security. Is there a better way I can word the block that would make it accepable? I would be happy to edit and update it. Quinninator (talk) 20:14, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. [1] MrOllie (talk) 20:50, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Home Assistant, you may be blocked from editing. Philipnelson99 (talk) 20:58, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm honestly trying to add Homeway to the page as it's revelant information for Home Assistant and Home Assistant's security. Can you offer some tips on how it can be added in a way that's not promotional? Quinninator (talk) 21:00, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is based on independent reliable sources (see WP:RS). You should cite one of those and summarize what it says. There is no version of text that links to and is cited to Homeway's own website that is going to work there. MrOllie (talk) 21:01, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok, thank you for the information. I will try to find a valid external source and use that next time. Quinninator (talk) 21:02, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
