Keep - I think a prose article could be created out of this. Bearian (talk) 00:14, 20 June 2025 (UTC)- "Out of this" you cannot. Rehashing trivia leaves them trivia. But to expand,... --Altenmann >talk 01:29, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

- Delete: Biblical sourcing, that's new for AfD... This is a DICDEF with a bunch of examples thrown in... I can only find mentions of a movie with this name or articles about pig herders. I suppose with proper etymological sourcing, you could have an article about the word... This isn't that. Oaktree b (talk) 13:32, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- Delete This is just a synonym for Pig farmer, which to save you time, that's just a disamb page. Angryapathy (talk) 15:21, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- Do not delete – this is a common enough term, we should surely have a page of some kind at this title. Probably best to redirect to Herder – unless a better target can be found? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:48, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- Redirect (with possibilities) per User:Justlettersandnumbers. Swineherding was related to but distinct from pig farming, and was important historically.
Herding, though it could do with expansion,Herder is a better target than pig farming, which doesn't really have any history section. Swineherding is almost certainly a topic someone could write an article about, but what's currently there is basically a dicdef plus trivia, and that's not an article. Which is a shame. I wish we had better coverage of historic occupations and other topics about historical everyday life. -- Avocado (talk) 12:48, 26 June 2025 (UTC)- Oh! I didn't even notice that the suggestions were different! Agreed that Herder is a better redirect target than Herding. (And maybe we should consider merging those two articles, anyway, but that's out of scope for this discussion.) -- Avocado (talk) 15:11, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
- Merge to Pig farming, as per WP:FORK. This a change from keep, due to new information. Bearian (talk) 01:03, 29 June 2025 (UTC)

Relisting comment: Three !votes, each with a different target. Any preference for one over another?

- Redirect to Pig farmer per WP:DICDEF. The definitions for both terms are similar, but the article on pig farming is much more comprehensive. It will provide more context and be of more value if someone happens to look up the term "swineherd."--DesiMoore (talk) 16:18, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
- Note that Pig farmer redirects to Pig farming. --A. B. (talk • contribs • global count) 16:27, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
