Delete. Has pages that it could be used on, but I'm in an opinion that if the creator of a navigation template didn't take the time to add it to articles, there is no reason to attempt to save it. Gonnym (talk) 14:35, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No transclusions, documentation, categories, or incoming links from discussions. I posted a note on the talk page to ask why this template was created, but it has not been explained. Many categories lag for known reasons (e.g. T132467 and T157670, which apply throughout MediaWiki sites); it does not make sense to me to single out one or two. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:37, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Keep Used. A ping might have helped, the use is pretty obvious, the template is useful where its relevant to remember that the category is laggy, to avoid going hunting for reasons why inclusion or, specifically, removal isn't happening. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 17:21, 24 July 2025 (UTC).[reply]
I posted a note on your talk page, as required. Every category that derives its membership from a template or module is prone to lags in populating the category, due to the above Phabricator issues. I don't think we need a special notice for just a subset of these categories. Can you explain what specific categories or groups of categories this template should apply to? Maybe this template should be merged with {{Maintenance category}}. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:05, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Asking for a ping is not a valid request. This is the ping. Gonnym (talk) 14:45, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Gonnym, Jonesey95 left a message on the talk page (which he created in the same edit) - AS HE SAYS IN HIS NOMINATION - "I posted a note on the talk page to ask why this template was created, but it has not been explained." That is why I am saying a ping would have been be helpful then OBVIOUSLY not at the same time as he templated a regular.
I can't believe that you BOTH misunderstood that comment. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 15:55, 28 July 2025 (UTC).[reply]
Templates that you create, as well as talk pages for those templates, should be added to your watchlist by default. I don't know how you missed the addition of tags to the template page or my posting on the talk page. In any event, the new documentation does not answer the fundamental question of why the template exists. Every category that is populated by MediaWiki software or a template is subject to lags, due to known bugs that I linked to at the TFD page. Which pages, specifically, should be tagged with this template, and why those pages instead of others that are also subject to lags? – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:19, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not everyone uses watchlists. Pages where it is a useful warning should be tagged. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 15:45, 9 August 2025 (UTC).[reply]
Delete. As Jonesey95 pointed out, every single category can have this issue. This should be noted in WP:CATEGORY (or any better page), but having this posted on every category is unhelpful. Having this posted on several is also unhelpful, as it seems there is a specific issue with them compared to others. Gonnym (talk) 14:48, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
NO ONE IS POSTING IT ON EVERY CATEGORY. Why would you bring this straw man up? And it is not an identical issue for all categories, as you should know. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 15:55, 28 July 2025 (UTC).[reply]
delete, it would be better to have a site-wide notice, instead of placing this template in a particular category. Frietjes (talk) 14:12, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If the only thing that was possible to use this template on, with a single usage, on a single page, just to color a box orange then I'm still in favor for deletion. Political colors (and not "shading templates") must use Module:Political party which we worked hard to consolidate. Gonnym (talk) 08:04, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I feel that its inclusion in a list article is very inappropriate and won't be surprised if it is eventually removed from it. But until then I'm ok for keeping it and seeing what happens. Gonnym (talk) 08:06, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Single use template with poor documentation about what the groupings are The Banner talk 12:24, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: It's not any sort of poor documentation. What the groupings are, is - of course - written on the respective article page. And on every grouping's page. The templates contains links to the respective page: Every country / grouping name in the template is clickable! Here, more precise links than just Country will be introduced over time. Saippuakauppias 15:15, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. The Banner talk 21:18, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To what you disagree, Sir? All that you have asked for is now provided:
  • Used in various articles
  • The explanation is there. If you are not following UNFCCC negotiations, then it will be difficult to understand from looking at the diagram only. I recommend you to check the above mentioned article on UNFCCC parties, as well as the pages of the coallitions (ALBA, LMDC, etc.).
For any further info, please feel free to ask. If you want me to improve something, please provide constructive feedback, that is, not just two words.
  • The diagram is widely used. I update it every few weeks, when changes occur.
  • → Are you against the template, or agianst the diagram itself? If you're against the figure, you can also try to get the SVG removed from Commons, or remove it from the artcles. However, the Template provides the additional value over the figure of being clickable. So what is your problem with this? Do you prefer the figure not to be clickable? Then, this would simply be less userfriendly.
  • Do you want more details written about the negotiations and the reason of the groups in the Doumentation page? This is not common practice. Check other Euler diagrams: e.g. Template:Supranational_African_Bodies, Template:Supranational_European_Bodies. I just used their Template as a template for creating the present one. There seems to be no issues. Saippuakauppias 09:07, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have a problem with quality of the template and the limited number of uses. The Banner talk 11:27, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Allright. Please answer my questions, because I have a problem with the quality of your messages. – You send no more than 11, 2, 15 words. This is not constructive.
  • --> Specify quality. What do you refer to?
  • --> How many transclusions do you want?
  • --> It's simply an improvement of the figure, because it makes the figure clickable. So What is your problem?
Saippuakauppias 14:49, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The template is NOT widely used, just a few times. The template is excessively big. And despite everything: links to disambiguation pages. Somebody else has fixed most of them, but still one is left. The Banner talk 03:17, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, I do not fix any links by hand. Somebody suggested to make this template. So i made it. Now, searching pertinent articles and §§ to link the Climate Change Strategy for all 190+ parties, that I leave for other people. The table needs to be updated, so that I can use this info in my Python script, which generates the code for the invisible hyperlink boxes linking to the respective page. Editing directly those boxes (what you call "somebody else was doing it") is good, because I can then extract that info, but it is dublicating the work, because I will use a lookup table to match countrynames in the SVG to the article links. Ok. Anyway that was quite technical. If there is "still one left", then do it yourself instead of complaining here! (WP:sofixit) Saippuakauppias 01:20, 16 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
A more interactive template with proper links to the countries' and country groups' pages improves the work we're doing in international institutions. 2A00:1E:81C0:9301:58A7:903E:6711:E229 (talk) 08:35, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

KEEP This is a fantastic visual aid that has helped me, other professionals, and students to understand how the UNFCCC system works and the political interplay between countries. Please keep it. It is very difficult to get a good picture of the intricacies of the system and this is absolutely better than not having it. 2A00:23CC:B725:1401:D882:9C9B:9ED8:E3E7 (talk) 08:45, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Effectively unused. Can be replaced with {{cite report}} in the mutilated handful of pages it's present on. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 13:48, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Redirect to Template:Cite tech report. Proposed in this discussion six years ago, opposed with good reason at the time, created as a redirect, and never adopted by editors. Replace with Citation Style 1 templates as appropriate. This template page was a redirect for a while, and then was turned into a wrapper with just one parameter set to an inflexible value after this discussion. That change does not appear to encouraged its adoption. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:26, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We should not allow cite standard as an alternative to cite tech report. That sets a bad precedent. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 01:16, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • I still believe the template itself is a good idea, because standards are often cited badly. I’m not sure the implementation is the best it can be. I also understand that apron has been very low. Shrug emoji — Christoph Päper 07:52, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • All this seems to do is inform future editors that the technical report being cited is a standard. Template:Cite ISO standard is a better model to follow for other standards bodies. --Northernhenge (talk) 21:51, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The TOC templates need to be deprecated, due to all of them not working properly in Vector 2022. We should not be using them for new work. 2600:1700:6180:6290:5455:F3AA:FC8D:D9B7 (talk) 01:50, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
