 Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Day Creature (talk) 01:06, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Used to bypass an IP address range block"

[edit]

The section title Wikipedia:IP block exemption § Used to bypass an IP address range block is confusing. It says in the "Who may request" section that "A user affected by an IP address block..." with it seeming like it doesn't matter if it is an single IP or IP ranges. Information on "renew"

[edit]

If I ctrl+f for the word "renew" on this page (/wiki/Wikipedia:IP_block_exemption), there are 0 results.

Can someone please fix this by adding a section describing how someone can renew an existing IPBE grant?

Context: I'm on the IPBE, and I got a (really cool) reminder that my IPBE status is going to expire soon on my talk page by a bot

* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Maltfield#Upcoming_expiry_of_your_ipblock-exempt_right

Hi, this is an automated reminder as part of Global reminder bot to let you know that your WP:IPBE right which gave you the ability to bypass IP address blocks will expire on 02:13, 17 August 2025 (UTC). If your IP is still blocked, please renew by following the instructions at the IPBE page; otherwise, you do not need to do anything.

Naturally, I clicked on WP:IPBE and did a quick ctrl+f for "renew". And I found nothing :(

I then skimmed the page and *still* didn't find any guide on the process to renew an IPBE.

Then I just threw my hands up and tried emailing checkuser-en-wp@wikipedia.org. This worked (in less than an hour! great work team!).

But I think the process should be made explicit on this page. And the word "renew" should appear in that section, since that's the language that this bot is using. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maltfield (talkcontribs) 17:45, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Same here - it's extremely unclear what I need to do. I've followed the above advice and e-mailied checkuser-en-wp@wikipedia.org. Grinner (talk) 08:47, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

UTRS not working - other ways to request?

[edit]

UTRS 2 gives me an error every time I try to file an appeal (for my underlying IP, of course), and it basically says "someone. maybe you, is trying to spam appeals" erroneously. Is there another way to request IPBE that doesn't involve UTRS? EF5 13:31, 25 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
