[edit]Plan for Edits
[edit]Hello everyone,
I am planning to make some edits to the history and XML data binding sections of the XML Wikipedia page to improve the accuracy and readability of the content. Before I begin editing, I wanted to share my plan for these edits so that the community can provide feedback and suggestions.
In the history section, I plan to provide more context on the development of XML and the challenges faced by the working group during this process. Specifically, I will add more detail on the role of the Interest Group in supporting the working group, the major design decisions made during the development of XML, and the impact of XML since its release.
In the XML data binding section, I plan to clarify the benefits of this approach for simplifying code development, and the types of applications for which it is most suitable. I will also provide examples of how XML data binding can improve code quality and make it easier to work with XML data in modern development environments.
Overall, my goal is to improve the accuracy and readability of the XML Wikipedia page, while providing useful information for developers and users of XML. I welcome any feedback or suggestions on these proposed edits, and I look forward to working with the community to improve this important resource. Dayibahmed (talk) 04:41, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
The article should contain the justification for case-sensitivity.
[edit]The article does not explain this annoying feature (case-sensitivity makes human-creation/editing very difficult). The articles does not mention the justification. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.174.239.209 (talk) 09:17, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- This article doesn't seem like the right venue for a dive into trivial choices made in the design. Something like a blog post would be better for that. (Maybe there already is such a blog post somewhere; did you search?) –jacobolus (t) 18:39, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
Concrete examples
[edit]This article should include the markup for a brief example of an XML document within the first few sections, with text below or to the side explaining the syntactic elements. This could be based on a real XML-based document format, or it could be something contrived just for the purpose, but it should show off at least the most common basic features. Otherwise, the discussion is too abstract for a reader who doesn't already know what XML is. The terminology section alone doesn't sufficiently explain how the various individual parts fit together. –jacobolus (t) 18:37, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
