Recent edit reversion
[edit]In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.
I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.
I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. ~~~~ S Philbrick(Talk) 13:41, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

Outline of Spain
[edit]Hi Earth: A few quick comments --
- On captions, you should only have a period at the end if it's a complete sentence. If it's a sentence fragment (like "View of the city of Ceuta.") then it shouldn't have a period. There are a lot of sentence fragments with periods here!
- Check for missing articles: List of reptiles of Spain, for example, could go in your fauna section.
- Get rid of the big blank spaces. For example, right now (on my computer screen anyway) there's a big gap after "The kingdom of Spain is a member of" in the "International organization membership". The picture of Gibraltar is causing this. Can it be moved somewhere else?
- Lots of film directors and artists, but no notable novelists or poets?
- I'd suggest reversing the "Spanish inventors and discoverers", putting it under "Spanish inventions and discoveries" rather than the other way around.
MeegsC (talk) 10:17, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
Done Thanks a lot for this! I've been thinking a lot about the article recently, to a point that I'm very very very [sic] anxious about the FL nom. I will not nominate it until you, @The Transhumanist: and @Trailblazer101: give me the
.- Also, is there a tool to check for missing entries? I only added your reptiles proposal. Thanks! Earth605 (talk) 09:51, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
Link gathering
[edit]Above, you asked about tools for finding missing entries, that is, for making a list of all entries related to Spain that are not in the Outline of Spain.
The only way I know of for doing that is as follows:
- Make a list of all entries you can find on Spain, in a sandbox page. That would also likely include at least some entries that are in the outline. Those are hellishly time consuming and tedious to remove by hand, so...
- Use the list comparison feature of AWB (AutoWikiBrowser) to compare the two lists (the outline page and the sandbox page) and have it make a list of all links unique to the sandbox page.
The hard part is gathering all the links you can in the first place to your sandbox page. Gathering links is the main activity of building an outline. Here are some suggestions:
- Install the userscript User:The Transhumanist/SearchSuite.js. It provides menu items to modify the search results, including alphabetization and wikification (it inserts the link brackets and list bullets for you), though you might have to use the old vector skin for it to work properly. It also can strip out everything but the links. Then you can use copy/paste to place them in a sandbox page.
- Using that script, do some searches, and copy/paste what you find that is relevant to the sandbox page...
- Search using the following search query:
- intitle:"Spain"
- If that produces way too many irrelevant articles, you can try:
- intitle:"of Spain"
- and...
- intitle:"in Spain"
- and here's another...
- intitle:"for Spain"
- Search using the following search query:
- To gather links from Category:Spain and its subcategories:
- Install the userscript User:The Transhumanist/ViewAsOutline-Category.js
- Copy paste the list-ready links to the sandbox mentioned above
- To help you navigate the categories, use Special:CategoryTree
- Gather links from Spain-related navboxes (navigation templates)
- Use AWB's make list feature to gather links from those templates (it has many link-gathering options to choose from). Come to think of it, you can gather links from categories with it too.
- Copy and paste the list it created to your sandbox and add link brackets to them. Notepad++ or WikEd work great for doing this.
- Look over AWB's make list feature for other ways to gather the links you desire.
- Other places to look for links include:
- See also sections of articles
- External links sections of articles (for the outline's external link section)
Concerning related lists, in most cases there is no need to enter the links they contain into the outline. You can link to the lists instead:

Such links look cleaner if you pipe out the "List of" part, like this: Women's football clubs in Spain, which looks like this in the outline's editing page: [[List of women's football clubs in Spain|Women's football clubs in Spain]]
(Remember, you can remove the links from the list of lists above that already appear in the outline using AWB's compare lists feature.)
Keep in mind that there are also more general lists that have sections on Spain, such as List of deserts#Spain.
Rather than having a section in the outline for lists (it's bad form), it is best to include the links to such lists wherever they are most relevant in the outline, just like article links.
Be sure to include a link to each of the other Spain-related outlines:
Look over the other country outlines to familiarize yourself with their layout. Most of them match in format, including the order in which they present subjects, to facilitate easy comparison. The user can display two country outlines side by side to see how they differ in each area.

- @Earth605: Is the outline comprehensive? See the list above.
Each item on the list should be marked "Done" or "N/A" (followed by the reason it shouldn't be included in the outline). The "Dones" are included in the outline. I should have run the list through AWB's list compare feature first, as that would have cut down on the amount of work checking the outline for links. Similar lists to the above can be made for intitle:"in Spain",intitle:"of Spain", andintitle:"Spain", using the userscript "SearchSuite", and those should definitely be run through AWB. SearchSuite can show search results as a list of links ready to be copied and pasted somewhere. That's how the above list was created for this thread. — The Transhumanist 22:16, 10 September 2025 (UTC)

- I took a look around by creating another link list (see below). It is clear that there are a lot of Spain-related articles missing from the outline. It is way too premature to nominate it for FL. — The Transhumanist 00:51, 11 September 2025 (UTC)
- I finished examining the list. I eliminated your huge years column. Many years are missing, and it is just impractical. It also doesn't have visual appeal. @The Transhumanist: Earth605 (talk) 09:53, 21 September 2025 (UTC)

"of Spain" and "in Spain" links
[edit]A cursory look at the below list reveals there are a lot of article links missing from the outline.
I casually scanned the list and made some marks here and there: I've bolded some links that apparently are not included in the outline yet, and ticked others that I checked and found in the outline, so as not to duplicate effort in future passes of the list. The ticks were getting distracting, so I started removing links I came across that were already in the outline. (See this page's history).
Warning: This list has not been filtered through AWB's list compare feature, which can be used to strip out the links already in the outline (which would probably save a lot of time). — The Transhumanist 23:15, 10 September 2025 (UTC)

General advice
[edit]In the featured list department, they might suggest or even require that you remove "Spain" from headings, but that's not the way it is done in the outline department. You could politely explain that it is standard for outlines to include the subject name in headings for two main reasons:
- Many outlines are similar, especially so for country outlines. It becomes possible to forget which outline you are looking at, especially when comparing two outlines side by side.
- Outline sections are often the target of links. Having the subject included in the heading makes it clear what topic you've jumped to.
Just in case, — The Transhumanist 12:41, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the advice! Earth605 (talk) 05:29, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
Hi there, I have had to revert most of your additions to this set (your version here) because of the following reasons:
- Per WP:DYKVAR, there should never be more than four biography hooks or more than two sport-related hooks in one set to maintain variety, and they should not be next to each other. This restriction can only be overturned with explicit consensus at WT:DYK, which only tends to be given out for special occasions. See WP:DYKSO. Eight of nine of your hooks were biographies, and all nine were sport-related.
- When promoting, you must always pay attention to comments at the nomination. At Template:Did you know nominations/Ian Matakis, it was noted that the "image should definitely not be used per WP:DYKIMG". You promoted it with the image.
- Similarly, you clearly did not look too hard at Template:Did you know nominations/OK-N, or you would have seen that the nominator wished it to be a double nomination with Champions of the Future, an article that has not yet been reviewed at DYK.
As I said, I have reverted your additions to the set, with the exception of one swapped nomination which is now in the queue. Feel free to re-build that set, but this time, please pay attention to the nominations, the promoting advice, and the prep-builder instructions. Thanks, ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 10:34, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- One more thing: you may find it easier to use the WP:PSHAW script rather than manual promotions, because then you avoid any chance of incorrect formatting, as happened at Template:Did you know nominations/Bhupendra Silwal which you did not properly close. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 10:38, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, I just installed the script like three minutes ago after doing the prep set. Earth605 (talk) 10:39, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks then!
- This is unrelated, but why has my nom not been promoted yet? Can I ask somebody to do this? Earth605 (talk) 10:39, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Earth605, if your nomination has not been promoted yet it is likely that promoters find it uninteresting compared to others. There is no guarantee that DYK nominations will be successful, because we receive far more than we can handle. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 10:44, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
Theres issues with the entire dyk template
[edit]@Earth605 I cant realy format stuff properly (when on pc) for some reason in the dyk so give me two days and it will have citations but theres issues, I will have to work around can you try to contact the nominator Tokeamour (talk) 23:12, 19 September 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia ads template edit
[edit]@Earth605: Hi, I'm just wondering why you replaced the "Be bold" ad in this diff instead of just adding the Spain ad in one of the empty slots? signed, SpringProof talk 04:28, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- The Be Bold ad is a still ad and wasn't very good. Also, in the template's talk page, there is a list of gif ads. I named the file according to the list. Both files have the same name except for .gif and .png.
- If you want to create a gif version of the ad, go on! Earth605 (talk) 04:32, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Earth605: I see! I don't know how to create a gif, so that's out of the question, haha. Anyone with {{Wikipedia ads|21}} would now get the Spain ad instead of the Be Bold ad. Not sure if that would actually be anybody. I've gone and removed ad 21 from {{Wikipedia ads generic}}. signed, SpringProof talk 04:50, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks! Earth605 (talk) 04:53, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Earth605: Actually, it seems like there are other still ads in the template, so I'm going to move the Spain ad to another slot and replace the Be Bold ad. It doesn't look like being a gif is needed. The talk page doesn't have all of the ads. They're at Template:Wikipedia ads. signed, SpringProof talk 05:01, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- WikiProject Spain is now ad #8. signed, SpringProof talk 19:42, 24 September 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Earth: One thing I'll mention is that the FL process will require you to add references to a number of things you assert — for example:
- 31st most populous country
- Second largest country in Western Europe
- Second highest country in Europe
- ISO country and region codes
- Time zones
- etc.
Also, it's not clear what the measurements are beside the neighbouring countries (i.e. where it says "Portugal 1,214 km"). Is that the length of the shared border? MeegsC (talk) 21:45, 4 October 2025 (UTC)
Prep 4
[edit]Hi there - I saw you and I were working on that prep area at the same time! Just letting you know I moved one hook to Prep 5. Prep 4 ended up without a female biography hook so for balance I added one and moved the broadcasting station hook to 5. Just sharing FYI! Dclemens1971 (talk) 16:30, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks! I always try to minimize biographies in general in my preps... Earth605talk 17:05, 7 October 2025 (UTC)

Please re-review. There are two sentences in two citations which use the word, but fail to demonstrate the required WP:SIGCOV. There is no independent standard for WP:NRIVALRY articles.
Full disclosure, this article is part of an active SPI re a banned user who creates unsourced college football rivalry articles. UW Dawgs (talk) 21:03, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, ****. I did not know about the SPI thing... I'm not really into searching sources that are very off-topic to me (I specialize in editing and writing articles about Spain). I'll give it a try though:
- [1] (New York Times) [2] (Wisconsin Badgers) [3] (newspaper)
- That should be enough, right? Add them if you wish, this should be proof of WP:SIGCOV. Earth605talk 06:30, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
LLM decline
[edit]Hello, regarding Draft:Fine and Dandy (horse), I don't know why you chose the "AI-generated" decline notice. Sure there were some uncited statements, but this method of citation is perfectly acceptable (albeit annoying for the current internet age) to use the newspaper name and issue/page in plain text. Accusing folks of their writing being AI-generated can be seen as an insult. Make sure you know the obvious tells of AI generated text (url having chatgpt in the source, source not supporting the text, especially with promotional language) before marking it as such. Here is an example I just found: Draft:Sociologica. -- Reconrabbit 16:04, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- I declined it from personal experience, as I promoted an AI article once, and the admin's rationale was that two refs were made up, when I came with your reasoning. Thanks though! Earth605talk 17:27, 5 November 2025 (UTC)

~Politicdude (talk, contribs) 18:40, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Voltio - notability
[edit]I was pinged and I see you've insisted that this company is notable. I was going to put an AfD on it but I thought you might be able to point to sources that meet GNG/WP:NCORP criteria quickly, in which case I'll take that notice off. I've done an analysis of the sourcing in the article. Since this is is a company, GNG/WP:NCORP requires at least two deep or significant sources with each source containing "Independent Content" showing in-depth information *on and/or about the company*. "Independent content", in order to count towards establishing notability, must include original and independent opinion, analysis, investigation, and fact checking that are clearly attributable to a source unaffiliated to the subject.
What that means in plain language is that, purely from a notability perspective, we want to see sourcing where the journalist has written something original based on independent opinion/analsys and not just regurgitating information from the company or from interviews. Not saying that if an article dares to include a quote it cannot be used to establish notability, but when we take out that quote, there must be sufficient in-depth information and original content remaining to meet the criteria.
Here's how the sourcing stacks up:
- Blogs are not reliable sources
- Profiles or announcements on partner websites
- Next we have a bunch of articles covering the initial announcement, all saying the same thing around the same week or so. It is PR and regurgitates company-provided information. None of these sources include any kind of "independent content" by way of in-depth opinion or analysis and they fail WP:ORGIND and/or WP:CORPDEPTH. (Did we really need all these sources in the article or is this an example of ref bloat?) I include the following in this selection:
- Then we have various "expansion" or "discount code" announcements
- Larazon mentioning the growth numbers reported by Mutua and a description of the service, but no independent content.
- From the Press Room
- Marketing Direction providing discount codes along with a standard PR profile
- Press Release appearing in Europa Press website
- Car and Driver reprinting an expansion announcement PR
- El Periódico reprint of the "expansion to madrid airport" announcement PR
- City Hall of Boadilla del Monte announcing availability of the service in their town after the mayor made a request. This is PR.
- Referity website which probably fails WP:RS and is listing promotional codes.
- Madrid Diario website carrying the PR "expansion to madrid" PR with discount "welcome promotion"
- Motor 16 regurgitating the company reported numbers
- Madrid Diario PR of "Voltio Plus" app
- ABC Spain announcement of Voltio Plus subscription service - PR
- El Mundo announcement of Voltio Home service - PR
- Madrid Diario announcement of expansion to other airports - PR
- Madrid Diario announcement of Volio Rent - PR, also covered by this on the company website.
- There isn't a single source that contains independent content. Can you find something that meets GNG/NCORP criteria? HighKing++ 13:44, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- This source that you called "a profile of an insurance company" meets GNG and NCORP. What is better than a company talking about a company?
- This is another company talking about it They talk about electricity in general. Not PR. I mean, they mention other carsharing companies! Earth605talk 06:01, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- Saying "these sources meet GNG/NCORP" without pointing to the specific paragraphs/content which you believe contains sufficient in-depth independent content is far too vague.
- Nevertheless, the first source is from an insurance "partner" company (advertising car insurance) with a profile of Voltio. The source contains zero "independent content" because all of the information is from the Voltio website. Where is the independent content? Correct me if I'm wrong, but you appear to want to rely on this source because ... it is a "different" unconnected company to Voltio. This is not a correct interpretation of GNG/NCORP. Additionally, even if the content was arguably independent, which is isn't, there are what ... 7 sentences? ... about the company? This source fails both ORGIND and CORPDEPTH.
- The second source is another "partner" company which promotes an electric car charging network and also has no "independent content", simply regurgitating PR about the company joining the "Convenio de Colaboración" with Madrid. You can find the same PR in multiple other articles all sourced back to Voltio and/or the Comunidad de Madrid. This is also not "independent content".
- I've looked at all the sources already and I've also tried to find sources myself, including research report. I cannot find any. If you wish to propose other sources, can you identify those paragraphs or parts that you believe meets ORGIND (independent content)? HighKing++ 18:54, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
