Wikipedia:Interface administrators' noticeboard

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to the interface administrators' noticeboard

This is the interface administrator noticeboard, for discussion of interface administrators and coordination of edits to the interface.

Currently only interface administrators can undelete JS/CSS pages, if you have an uncontroversial undelete or deleted version retrieval request, please list it below.

Any administrator can delete JS/CSS/JSON pages, for speedy deletions just use a CSD template on the page or its talk page.

Individual requests for edits to interface or user JavaScript/CSS pages should continue to be made on their respective talk pages.

    AfC tempelate glitch

    [edit]

Hello! When you observe Template:AfC status, you can click on a link to go to a random article in Category:Pending AfC submissions, but instead it leads to this, which tries to lead you to a random article in Category:Pending AfC submissions&server=en.wikipedia.org&namespace=2!118&type=page, which is not a thing that even can exist on Wikipedia. I, unfortunately, am a technological imbecile, so if one of you folks could fix that, it would be highly appreciated! Or, at least, you could direct this where it needs to go if this is not the correct spot. Commandant Quacks-a-lot (talk) 23:36, 5 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The tool of interest is maintained by Ahect and is regardless not in the purview of this noticeboard which is for onwiki scripts and gadgets. You can inquire at their talk page. Izno (talk) 00:38, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    Okay, thanks! Commandant Quacks-a-lot (talk) 01:43, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fix ping: Ahecht. –Novem Linguae (talk) 01:56, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This looks like it's been fixed with Special:Diff/1320642161. jlwoodwa (talk) 01:50, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jlwoodwa A workaround has been implemented for now, but phab:T247432 seems to have broken how interwiki links to toolforge tools work if parameters are being passed in the URL. --Ahecht (TALK

    MediaWiki:G13-restore-wizard.js

    [edit]

Hi there, I have closed Wikipedia talk:Requests for undeletion#Requested move 1 November 2025 with no action taken as requires update to MediaWiki:G13-restore-wizard.js per nom. Could an interface admin update this and complete the page move? It will need to be done simultaneously to avoid breaking things it seems. Thanks, CNC (talk) 14:43, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to know if you could merge the histories of these two interface pages since MediaWiki:Wikimedia-globalblocking-blockedtext-range is what should have been used on Wikimedia projects. Its history goes back to 2018 and merging the histories would help preserve attribution and would probably help future editors who may become confused why MediaWiki:Wikimedia-globalblocking-blockedtext-range is not appearing in global block messages.

I presume that you created the former page in error without realizing that this latter page existed which is why I am asking. Aasim (話すはなす) 20:17, 8 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. A history merge seems reasonable here, but I'd like a second opinion on whether it's better to use MediaWiki:Globalblocking-blockedtext-range or MediaWiki:Wikimedia-globalblocking-blockedtext-range, so I'll go ahead and move this to WP:IANB. –Novem Linguae (talk) 05:57, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I believe on Wikimedia projects, Globalblocking-blockedtext-range falls back to Wikimedia-globalblocking-blockedtext-range; that or changes to Wikimedia- prefixed messages for global blocks might have been the only visible messages.
I found ⚓ T203891 Default MediaWiki:Globalblocking-ipblocked text shown on English Wikipedia instead of locally modified version which showed that if the Wikimedia- prefix was not used it would default to a message on Meta-Wiki instead, although that is several years ago and likely have changed since then. @Novem Linguae
It has been over 15 days without any objection so I think it should be safe to go ahead. :) Aasim (話すはなす) 16:13, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really understand what you're asking well enough to feel comfortable doing it. Was hoping to crowd source it to someone else who understands it or has time to understand it. Maybe add a {{IAER}} to one of the page's talk page and explain what you want done, and that'll put it into a queue so it is not forgotten. –Novem Linguae (talk) 20:44, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and deleted MediaWiki:Globalblocking-blockedtext-range, marking this as not done since the histories are not merge-able at a technical level due to a difference in initial revisions between the two pages. As it currently stands, both pages were identical, so there is no reason to keep both around. Sohom (talk) 00:54, 27 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not done per above. Sohom (talk) 00:54, 27 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    OK thanks

@Randomdude123459 is currently unable to view pages on enwiki. They requested (on Meta) that their common.css be removed. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 01:57, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Done, commented out the offending code. Sohom (talk) 04:04, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
